Tomorrow I leave for Chile. I don't arrive until the day after though and then I spend 3 nights alone in Santiago. After that, I meet a bus at the airport and drive 3 hours to a place called
"Canal Om".
Guess what I'm doing there.
I'll be in Chile for two weeks doing mountains of hippy stuff. There will be beautiful scenery though and, no doubt, some quite interesting looking people. I decided that all I'm taking, besides a waterproof disposable film camera (which I will likely only be able to use in a pool), is my Holga. Bare bones, no tripod, no accoutrement- just 120 film, the multi-color, on-camera flash, and it's pretty red lanyard.
I've had some trouble getting to know the 120 thus far, but truth be told- it's kind of my favorite. I haven't gotten a good sense of exposure times for my Holga, and I have a nasty habit of having no freaking idea whether or not I progressed the film or not when I got to take another shot. But...when I accidentally double expose. I love it. When the shot comes out good, it comes out really good. It's square. It leaks light. It's unpredictable. It's perfect.
So, wish me and my plastic companion good luck on our journey to South America. Who knows what variety if Photographic Love awaits us.
